Abode service is a slightly more intricate procedure for personal service. In this scenario, the process server visits the recipient’s home and delivers the documents to an individual of suitable age and sound mind residing there.

Documents are handed directly to the party being served. If the party refuses the documents, the documents will be dropped and the party is told “you’ve been served”.

Documents are cataloged, copied, and sent by registered or certified mail, return receipt requested, or by similar commercial delivery service.
